Jennifer Valinski began her dance and gymnastics training in St. Clair Shores at the age of five at Dancer‘s and Gymnastics Workshop. Later she moved to Warren and started classes at Professional School of Ballet. Jennifer started as an assistant at sixteen years old and by the age of eighteen was a full time teacher with over two hundred students. She has taught at The Professional School, Juliart Dance, Van Buren Parks and Recreation, Livonia Public Schools and P&P Dance. In 2001, she married and moved to Belleville and continue to teach while raising her son, Drew and daughter, Sarah. Later on, she created Jitterbugs Dance to start teaching children physical and health education through music and dance. Through the years her local reputations has expanded all throughout Michigan. she is apart of numerous dance, gymnastic and educational organizations and certified in CPR and First Aid. Also, she has donated my hours along with my students to convalescent homes, festivals, churches, schools, and various other organizations. Finally, you will find Ms. Jennifer teaching Sr. Ballet and Pointe, Lyrical, Preschool Ballet/Tap, Kinder Ballet, Tap, Jr. Ballet & Jazz on Wednesdays and Thursday Evenings.
Amanda Thompson is the newest member to the Jitterbug family, but is definitely not new to the dance world! Amanda is currently attending Michigan State University where she is majoring in nursing and minoring in child development and dance and is also a Certified Nursing Assistant. Amanda has had the honor of studying with some of the best choreographers world wide, such as Angie Carter who has done choreography for Mary J Blige, Jay Fagan who received the American Dance Award, and Mario Valez Jr. who has trained dancers who have worked with artists such as Lady Gaga and Jason Derulo and has choreographed for "Automatic Response Dance Crew" and the Jabbawockeez which were seen on ABC. Amanda is trained in Graham's technique for modern/contemporary dance, Cecchetti ballet, and is a certified Acro Tumbling instructor, but has also studied and taught tap, jazz, clogging, hip-hop, lyrical and musical theatre. Amanda is currently obtaining her teaching certification from Dance Masters of America in the areas of ballet, tap, jazz and modern/contemporary. Amanda has taught both recreational as well as competitive dance for over 4 years, and she can't wait to keep sharing her love of dance with bright new faces! Finally, Ms. Amanda is teaching our Sr. Ballet, Pointe, Stretch, Turn and Leap and Sr. Production along with Sr. Jazz on Tuesday Nights.
Erica Sun is one of the newest members of our Jitterbug family but, her experience is far from new. Erica is and Alum from the University of Minnesota and graduate in Dance, and has had the pleasure of learning from some of the best, Erica has studied under former members of Broadway's original cast of Beauty and the Beast, The Limon Company, The Ailey Company, and Danny Buraczeski's Jazz Dance. Erica has been trained and influenced by styles such as Limon, Graham, and Horton modern techniques and Luigi, Giordono, and Fosse jazz techniques. Furthermore Erica is trained in Cecchetti ballet and certified in Grades I-IV. Recently, Erica has performed in Vanessa Voskuil's En Masse, a three time Sage Award nominated piece, at the Southern Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. Currently, Erica is attending Eastern Michigan University to pursue a Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology and is super excited to share her passion of Dance! Find Ms. Erica teaching Hip Hop and Tap on Mondays, Sr. Tap on Thursday and Kinder and Preschool classes Saturday morning!
